Christmas was looming and I
couldn't think of anything absurdly expensive or totally unnecessary to
get myself, so I thought, what the f*ck, with Fort Lauderdale's perfect
all-year-round riding
weather, I might as well get a Harley Davidson to cruise the boulevards
and beach fronts. So I took the
plunge and bought this stunning new Harley model - the 2005 Softail
Deluxe. Talk about a mid-life crisis in full swing!
This is strictly a cruiser
with a low seat and pulled-back riding position, floor boards and saddle bags. Its got the standard 88 cu
in (1480cc) V twin with both pipes exiting on the right hand side of the
bike. With its low slung raked back riding position, fat white wall tires
and saddle type seat, it has a strong nostalgia/retro style. Its a monster at 670 lbs, and its performance is nothing to write
home about, but it makes for effortless cruising around town.
Christmas Day arose bright
and early - we got the dumb dog and family photos out the way and then
headed out delivering Christmas presents. What a blast - T-shirts and denims in the
middle of winter - damn, you just have to love this place we live in.
So if you are ever in town,
look us up and I will take you for a ride. Remember, topless girls always
ride free!
And on New Years Day I got
stuck in and made my dream car garage even dreamier. I started off by
installing 14,000BTU of air-conditioning - vital to work in a cool garage.
We then and re-epoxied the garage floor, installed new fluorescent
lighting, and reorganized the tools - you can literally eat off the floor
