Ultimate Windsurfing Van

Freightliner Sprinter to Mercedes Sprinter Conversion

    SOLD: 2002 MB Sprinter 144” Hi-Roof – 26,000mi - 18” AMG rims – South Florida

SOLD:- My one owner 2002 Freightliner Sprinter (rebadged as MB) with only 26,600 miles on the clock.

Possibly the lowest mileage 2002 Sprinter anywhere in the world!!

I converted this van into the self titled “Ultimate Windsurfing Van” in 2002, but unfortunately injuries prevented me from pursuing my passion. You can see the original conversion project as I did it in 2002, here at

Overall

Everything is in good working order and it looks and runs like a million dollars. There are a few tiny minor cosmetic items as expected with a 9 year old van! Never been in any accidents, no dings and zero curb rash on wheels. One tiny rust spot in sliding door.

Exterior

Van was built white but was custom painted Silver / Gun Metal by the dealer for me prior to taking delivery. It comes with imported Euro version 18” AMG wheels, shod with new 255/55/18” Continental w-rated tires (good to 169mph), and XL rated (up to 2800lbs per tire). Tires were installed last year and have less than 1,800 miles on the tires.

Paint condition is in excellent condition and the van was only ever washed by myself. Paint is flaking off the plastic MB wheel center caps. It has the factory rear step bumper and tow-hitch which is nicely hidden by the step bumper.

Spare tire has never been used.

When I purchased it I immediately rebadged to Mercedes Benz (except for the steering wheel air bag and shift lever).

Interior

The original cloth seats in excellent condition, as is the faux wood dash and door panels. No sagging or wear visible on seats or the fabric. Hand pumped lumbar bladder in driver’s seat works well and provides great support. Good condition hi quality carpet floor mats up front.

All walls and ceiling are insulated. Wall panels are particle board padded with fabric, and would be simple to update with new fabric. Ceiling is a plastic dimpled shower stall sheet system that I installed and looks great.

Cargo area has a custom bed that I made that is easy to remove in 2 sections. Steel tube frame, plywood top and foam mattress. Floor is fully carpeted.

Sound System and Navigation

Complete with most awesome music system!!! Alpine AM/FM/CD head unit, plus two amplifiers. One Alpine 4x50W RMS amplifier drives the Infinity component mid range speakers and tweeters set in the ceiling panel above driver and passenger, as well as the Infinity 6x9” speakers in the rear panels. A second Alpine 200W RMS amp drives the 12” Alpine sub woofer housed in a Q-logic enclosure. The music quality is quite exceptional. Head unit has a wireless remote control.

Vehicles comes with an original Magellan 750 Navigation System (same as the Hertz Never Lost) with separate head unit and display, and the unit functions perfectly, and is very intuitive.

Mechanical

Since I bought this van I have had zero issues, all recalls have been done, and it is a pleasure to drive.

This van has the 5-cylinder MB diesel with a flashed ECU that removed the speed limiter, and added approx. 35 BHP and approx. 60ftlbs TQ. It accelerates easily to 110+ mph and has averaged 22+ MPG over the 26,000 miles, with zero issues.

Auxiliary Battery, Inverter and 110V system

An upgraded alternator charges the standard and auxiliary batteries with a battery isolator preventing the main battery from discharging. Both batteries were replaced about two years ago. The auxiliary battery powers the music system amplifiers and a heavy duty 1,000W inverter and the van is wired with three 110V outlets in the front and rear of the cargo section.

First $20,000 takes it.
